CORNWALL, Ontario - The Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry County Library is introducing the ‘Gadget Bar’; a selection of tablets that can be borrowed and used in the library.
Currently available at the Alexandria, Finch, Lancaster and Morrisburg branches, library members can now borrow one of the ‘Gadget Bar’ tablets for an hour for use in the library.
“Using a tablet at the library is a great way to try out a new technology, to browse the web using the library’s free WiFi, and to use the library’s online resources”, said Erika Heesen, Communications and Marketing Librarian. “One of these online resources is Library Press Display, which allows library members to read over 1,700 newspapers online, including The Ottawa Citizen, The National Post, and The Globe and Mail. We’re looking forward to developing the Gadget Bar program with new devices and expanding to other branches as funds permit”.
The library also offers free, one-on-one, 30 minute technology training sessions tailored to each individual’s needs, on such topics as eBook downloads, eResources, basic computer training, and creating email accounts. Having the ‘Gadget Bar’ will allow the Library to expand this technology training program.
