CORNWALL, Ontario - A tentative deal has been reached between the city and its transit union.
Dail Levesque, the city's human resources manager, said in an interview that a 10-hour negotiation session Wednesday produced the agreement.
Neither side is ready to discuss details of the tentative agreement, though the transit union had been looking for pay increases and changes to the sick leave system that would result in more compensation.
The labour issue won't be officially concluded until both sides ratify the deal. The transit union is expected to vote in the coming days.
Levesque told Seaway News if the union votes in favour of the deal prior to an Oct. 28 city council meeting, the corporation could put its stamp of approval on it then.
If not, the council vote will move to a subsequent meeting date.
