CORNWALL, Ontario - Well, there's little doubtit will be a white Christmas for Cornwall and area.

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for the Cornwall area, with as much as 15 cm of snow expected Saturday night and into Sunday.

Local areas could see well beyond 20 cm.

A disturbance from the southern plain states is forecast to track northeast towards the Great Lakes. Latest indications suggest this low will follow a path across Central Ohio Saturday to Central New York State by Sunday morning.

Snow is expected to reach eastern Ontario by Saturday evening. Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm in 12 hours are likely over extreme eastern Ontario. In addition, strong and gusty easterly winds will develop ahead of this system with reduced visibilities in snow and blowing snow. Cold wind chills below minus 20 will also be an issue.

Motorists should be prepared for poor winter driving conditions especially Saturday night into Sunday morning.
