CORNWALL, Ontario - Caisse populaire de Cornwall is leaving a foot print in its former Montreal Road home.
The bank announced Monday it plans to operate an ATM machine at 201 Montreal Road - the branch it is closing.
Caisse officials announced in September that they will consolidate their operations to their Ninth Street location.
"After having taken into consideration the comments of members and the local population, the administrators have decided to maintain as of next January and until further notice, an ATM at 201 Montreal Road, but with some adjustments in the functions available," Caisse manager Denis Beaudry said in an email. "Depending on the agreement reached with the potential buyers of the building, the ATM could remain accessible for members to carry out the great majority of their automated financial operations with the exception of deposits and passbook updates."
Beaudry said the bank will evaluate the profitability of the ATM annually.
"In making this choice, the Caisse displays its willingness to listen, but at the same time counting on the determination of its members to display solidarity toward their financial cooperative, having made known their wish to maintain Desjardins services on Montreal Road," he said.
