CORNWALL, Ontario - Operation Red Nose (ORN) wrapped up its third year of providing safe rides home on a high note.

The safe alternative to drinking and driving in December kept busy with over five nights of volunteer service resulting in over 240 rides.

The lift home for drivers, their vehicles and passengers was free of charge. But the amount of in-car donations for the Boys & Girls Club of Cornwall/SDG added up to $3,500. Lee Theodore, ORN chair, said with the addition of corporate sponsorships the amount is expected to reach $5,000.

Over 115 volunteers braved snowstorms in the late of hours of the night to drive people home in Cornwall, St. Andrew’s West, Lancaster, Ingleside, Summerstown, Martintown, and Long Sault.

"Boys & Girls Club is very grateful for ORN's support. We are very proud of our Kinsmen partnership and for the hard work of every volunteer," said Jacquie Richards, BGC executive director.
