John Parsons, owner of Kensington Park Recruitment, shows off the pile of pet food he's been able to collect thus far.

CORNWALL, Ontario - If you think the recent cold weather has been tough, imagine if you had to spend all your time outdoors, with no boots and a shaggy coat.

For dozens of animals, be they strays or not, the winter is a difficult time given the frigid temperatures and monstrous snowbanks.

John Parsons, owner of Kensington Park Recruitment in Cornwall, is trying to do his bit for some of our furry frozen friends by collecting canned pet food, which he is donating to the Cornwall branch of the OSPCA at the end of the month.

For every "like" Kensington Park receives on Facebook, he'll chip in a can of pet food.

There's already a mountain of cans in his Second Street East office.

And he's not alone in his desire to help the animals.

Cornwall lawyer Gordon Campbell has pledged a $1 donation (up to $5,000) every time an individual follows both his Twitter feed (@gsclawfirm) as well as the Cornwall branch of the OSPCA (@OSPCASDG). Individuals are also encouraged to retweet his message about helping animals in need.

"Between him and us, we should be giving them a pretty hefty donation by the end of January," said Parsons.
