CORNWALL, Ontario - A Cornwall mother called the cops on her 14-year-old son for stealing from family.

Cornwall Police blotter update.

Police allege the youth removed $10 in change from his mother's piggy bank between Jan. 12 and 13.

City cops also accused the teen of lifting a $20 gift card from his mother’s wallet between December 2013 and this January.

He faces charges of theft under $5000 and two counts of breach of probation for failing to keep the peace, and for not abiding by house rules.

The teen was released with a court date of Feb. 13. His name cannot be released since he's under 18.

Such stupidity in this town , hes a child .. Hes 14 years old, give the kid an allowance , raise him up right... But who are we kidding right.. The mother has a " piggy bank " .. More reason to move out of this hell hole.

I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous. Maybe she should impart some discipline on her son herself instead of calling in the police to do her job (and spare me the argument that this is discipline..this is lazy). I'm sure the police have more important things to do than charge some kid for stealing his mom's change. Good grief...tax dollars at work.

if more parents taught their children lessons this way we might have a lot less burglary as a whole
