Five arrested, police seize $9K in fentanyl patches

CORNWALL, Ontario – Two simultaneous raids on different Cornwall homes landed five people in cuffs for drug-related charges on Wednesday.

Members of the Cornwall Police Street Crime Unit and Emergency Response Team searched homes on Cumberland Street and York Street resulting in double drug busts.

Police seized 30 fentanyl patches, street value: $9000; 15.9 grams of marijuana, street value: $160; 2.2 grams of cocaine, street value: $160; 2.7 grams of hashish, street value: $30.

An additional $145 Canadian and $235 U.S. were confiscated.

Melissa Burson, 29, was charged with possession of hashish.

Shawna Mitchell, 35, Jeremy Ceasor, 20, and Sherry Burson, 46, were charged with possesion of cocaine and marijuana.

Gheza Toth-Dogaru, 46 , faces charges of possesion of fentanyl patches, possession of fentanyl patches for the purpose of trafficking, and property obtained by crime.

All five are from Cornwall.

Mitchell and M. Burson were released to appear in court on Feb. 25, while Ceasor, Burson, and Toth-Dogaru were held for a bail hearing.
