CORNWALL, Ontario – City cops are giving Cornwallites a good reason to visit the mechanic this month.

As part of their newest traffic action plan, Cornwall police will be conducting random equipment safety checks throughout February.

Police will be targeting unsafe vehicles with malfunctioning headlights and rear lights, licence plate lights, tires or any other equipment that isn't up to the standards of the Highway Traffic Act.

During their January traffic action plan which focused on obstructions, licence plates, and tinted windows police issued four provincial offence notices for not having a clear view to the rear (due to vehicles not being cleaned off properly prior to driving), and an additional four warnings for tinted windows.
