Cornwall city hall
CORNWALL, Ontario – City hall is trying to enlist the help of other municipalities in the country in its fight with the federal government over controversial chemical tanks on Cornwall’s waterfront.
City hall passed a motion Monday night calling on the federal government to mandate that communication be required between parliament hill and municipalities when it comes to leasing federally-owned properties to third parties.
The motion is going to be circulated among other municipalities seeking more support.
The city took a shot at the federal government, specifically Transport Canada, for failing to consult with municipal officials about the lease of waterfront property in Cornwall to Trillium Distribution which is building a pair of calcium chloride tanks.
