CORNWALL, Ontario – A 49-year-old man is dead after crashing his snowmobile in South Glengarry – the third such fatality to occur in just a matter of weeks.

Ontario Provincial Police say the accident happened Thursday night, on a trail just south of Concession 9.

Police say the man was operating his MXZ Ski Doo north bound when he failed to “negotiate a bend in the trail” and struck a tree.

The man, 49, was transported to the Glengarry Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The man was identified as Robert Gagnon of South Glengarry Township.
