CORNWALL, Ontario - The new executive director at the local United Way office knows all about helping people in need.
Lori Greer was officially introduced in her new role on Monday, leaving a position as the operations manager at the Agape Centre in Cornwall.
“I am so pleased to accept this position with the United Way and I am looking forward to playing a role in helping to improve lives and strengthen our community by working together with everyone at the United Way office, the board of directors, business leaders and the entire community," she said.
Greer is a Cornwall resident who has more than 20 years of operating and human resource experience with her.
She got right into the swing of things, accepting a $15,000 cheque from Corus Entertainment Monday.
“The board of directors of the United Way of S. D. & G. is incredibly proud and excited to have Lori Greer join us as executive director,” said Danny Aikman, United Way board president. “Lori’s compassion and caring nature will serve her well as she works with our member agencies in carrying out their very important roles in our community.
"We feel that Lori will provide us the leadership and energy to meet our fundraising goals for many years to come."
Greer replaces Frank Rockett, who was hired and fired by the United Way within just a few short weeks last year.
The United Way wrapped up its 2013 fundraising campaign by collecting $700,001.
