CORNWALL, Ontario - A mayoral candidate and the operator of a website in Cornwall made a court appearance Thursday, and his matter has been adjourned for about a month.
Jamie Gilcig, who has his name spelled "Ghilcig" in court documents, appeared to answer to Cornwall police charges of criminal harassment and uttering death threats.
Gilcig sat in the second row of the court and said nothing during the brief appearance. A pre-trial hearing will take place next Thursday and Gilcig is scheduled to return to court for an appearance April 17.
He was arrested Feb. 10 after another Cornwall man complained to police.
None of the charges against Gilcig have been proven in court.
Gilcig's is the only name that appears on the mayoral ballot in Cornwall thus far.
