CORNWALL, Ontario - The beginning of spring is also the start of half-load season in the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas, & Glengarry and Cornwall.
The United Counties of Stormont, Dundas, & Glengarry County Administration Building.
The half-load season, which usually runs from the beginning of March until May, is the time of year when vehicles are restricted to carrying a maximum of five tonnes per axle on the weaker roads located throughout the region.
This year half-load season was delayed in SD&G and the city, for the longest time in recent history, due to an extended bout of cold weather.
The counties announced that Friday, March 21 is the official start of the season.
Roads which are subject to seasonal weight restrictions are identified with a sign. Half-loads will be enforced once signs are posted.
