Grant Crack (Liberal MPP for Prescott-Russell), Ontario Liberal candidate for SDSG John Earle, Agape Centre executive director Alyssa Blais (Earle's wife), and former MPP Jim Brownell.
With 165 votes counted, Earle, a newly minted politician, secured a victory against an opponent with longstanding ties to the Liberal party.
The Cornwall-based documentary filmmaker is a small business entrepreneur.
Jones is the president of the SDSG Federal Liberal riding association, a member of the Provincial Liberal executive, and a former South Dundas councillor.
"I thank all of you for coming out and showing your support to Del and I," said Earle. "It was so exciting when I came into the room and saw everybody here today. It's tremendous."
He will be looking to represent the riding in the next provincial election. Earle will square off against incumbent Conservative MPP Jim McDonell and NDP candidate and city councillor Elaine MacDonald.
The announcement was made at the NAV Centre on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
"Now there's some hard work as we pave the road ahead," said Earle. "I'm looking forward to it and meeting all the members of our riding, whether they're red, blue or orange. I know we can do this, we can bring the Liberals back to power in SDSG."
He was backed by former Liberal MPP Jim Brownell. Earle, an underwater enthusiast, is also the president of Fishrizzo Productions. The two worked closely in 2007/2008 on documentaries of the underwater heritage of Lake St. Lawrence and the Lost Villages.
"We need a leader like John Earle who is ready and willing to knock on the big doors at Queen's Park, never shirking from the responsibility to represent all constituents," said Brownell.
Unlike the former MPP, Earle's fully bilingual.
"We have a huge francophone community and we need to remember them," said Earle.
In late March, he had the opportunity to network with Ontario's Premier at the Ontario Liberal AGM.
"I'm super excited to be a part of Kathleen Wynne's team," said Earle.
