CORNWALL, Ontario - Warm temperatures and rising water levels have caused a number of road closures in the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SDG).

High water leads to road closures in the United Counties of SDG.

The SDG Roads Department is advising residents to exercise caution while driving through the United Counties this week.

The area is experiencing very high water levels due to the rain and snow melt. There are locations where water is adjacent to the driving lanes or overtopping the road.

Last night there were four areas where part of or all of the road had to be closed – County Road 2 at County Road 26 (South Glengarry), County Road 12 in Crysler, County Road 30 south of Greenfield and County Road 5 west of Winchester Springs.

County Road 5 from Toye Hill Road to Kirkwood Road will remain closed for the time being (the others will be re-opened by morning).

County staff is monitoring the road conditions in the flood prone areas.

For flooding conditions please visit the South Nation Conservation and Raisin Region Conservation Authority websites.

County road closures will be posted on the Conservation Authority and County websites.
