St. Lawrence College

CORNWALL, Ontario – College Ontario released its annual Key Performance Indicators (KPI) report which showed St. Lawrence College (SLC) ranks among the best in the province.
Two independent research firms conduct the surveys for each of the colleges and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The data from the surveys is then put together for the KPI report.
St. Lawrence ranked high in the various categories, staying above the provincial average for all nine sets of data released in the report.
“Were very satisfied with these results,” said Glenn Vollebregt, president and CEO of St. Lawrence College. “We’re out-performing the average in the province and it shows that students come to college to become career ready. The indicators show that we’re demonstrating that we’re able to fulfil our mission on that.”
Through March 2013 and February 2014, St. Lawrence received a graduation employment rate of 88.2 per cent, enough to place them second among the 24 Ontario colleges.
Of the St. Lawrence students surveyed, 82.7 per cent were satisfied with their college experience. The province average for graduation satisfaction is 80.1 per cent.
“The results show the work that we’re doing in all three of the areas,” said Vollebregt. “We’re consistently in the top colleges of the province so we’re very pleased.”
SLC was ranked second best in employer satisfaction as well. Of the employers surveyed, 94.6 per cent were satisfied with their hired graduates. Seneca College edged out St. Lawrence with a 94.7 satisfaction rating.
Student satisfaction, which was quite low throughout the province at 76.3 per cent positive response, was not a problem for SLC. They received an 80.6 per cent satisfied rating.
“There is always opportunity for students, for staff, and for faculty to voice their opinion on the services that they receive,” said Vollebregt.
There were also multiple Capstone Questions where students were surveyed on college services, college facilities, and their program overall. St. Lawrence stayed above the average satisfaction rate for each question.
