CORNWALL, Ontario - Saturday was a special celebration for Heart of the Family, a unique child-care centre in Cornwall that never sleeps, serving parents and guardians working non-traditional hours.

The child-care centre opened its doors to local families, offering dozens a tasty barbecue, fun activities, a staff meet and greet, and tours of the facility, to showcase what makes Heart of the Family tick.

Political dignitaries MP Guy Lauzon and MPP Jim McDonell took part in a tree planting ceremony to commemorate the milestone. Two apple trees were planted since fruit trees flourish in pairs.

"The significance of the tree plant was to symbolize Heart of the family and the children of our city, planting seeds into little lives to produce fruitful citizens,"said Christina Wright Stephenson, director of Heart of the Family. "Thank you, to everyone that came out to make our day a huge success."

You have got to be kidding me. This day care has had a litany of accusation launched at it since it opened 5 years ago. And was temporarily closed last year because of yet again more allegations of abuse and neglect. I have been there and it was a disgrace how they run things. But the city is heavily subsidizing them. So sweep under the carpet the wrong doing and the hell with the welfare of the children. Shame on Guy Lauzon and Jim McDonell for being a part of the madness!.
