CORNWALL, Ontario – After six weeks of campaigning in the 2014 Ontario election, five candidates (technically four) are eagerly awaiting the results from Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry (SDSG).

The five registered local candidates in the provincial election are incumbent Progressive Conservative MPP Jim McDonell, Liberal John Earle, NDP’s Elaine MacDonald, Libertarian Shawn McRae, and Green Party’s Sharron Norman.

An Ipsos Reid poll suggests that the Tories are ahead.

The poll says in eastern Ontario, the PCs (38%) hold a solid lead over the Liberals (31%), NDP (28%) and others (3%).

Results for SDSG and Glengarry-Prescott-Russell will start to roll in as the polls close at 9 p.m.
