South Stormont will be unveiling a new splash pad facility on June 25.

CORNWALL, Ontario – Keeping your cool while trying to beat the summer heat is getting a lot easier in South Stormont.

A new splash pad at Arnold Bethune Memorial Park (75 Simcoe Street) in Long Sault is scheduled to be unveiled on Tuesday, June 17.

The park’s newest addition will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The completion of this project highlights a number of recreation facility improvements in the township, that have taken place since September 2012 as part of the federal government’s Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF).

Along with contributions from the CIIF and the Township of South Stormont, a Splash Pad Fundraising Committee was also formed and helped raise approximately $35,000 of monetary and in-kind donations toward the construction of the project.

As part of a special opening ceremony on June 25, the township will highlight facility improvements made possible through CIIF support at the Long Sault Arena and the St. Andrews West Outdoor Pool.

An elementary class from Longue Sault Public School will represent the school’s parent and teacher association that were involved in fundraising efforts.
