CORNWALL, Ontario – A Cornwall woman suffered a stab wound to her leg and other injuries following an attack by her boyfriend.

Cornwall police said the 46-year-old Quebec man and his girlfriend were involved in a dispute last week when the attack took place. The woman was held against her will and forced to the ground by the man, who made threats against her, said police.

It’s alleged he then pulled a knife and stabbed her in the leg, and cut her arm.

He eventually left the home, and damaged property, including a phone, on the way out.

The victim was transported to hospital with injuries, but is expected to make a full recovery.

The attacker, who was not named by police, faces charges of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, mischief, uttering threats, assault and forcible confinement.

As the man had left Cornwall for Montreal police had to issue a warrant for his arrest. He was placed in custody Thursday and held for a bail hearing.
