CORNWALL, Ontario - What better way to help local people with special needs establish a clubhouse and respite centre of their own, than an afternoon of boating, fishing, BBQ food, auction bidding, and live music?

Art Levert Jr.'s Include Program, a service for people with special needs that addresses their social issues with one-on-one and small group care, is hosting its first Fishing For Special Needs fundraising event at Gray's Creek Marina on Saturday, July 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"This fundraiser is open to all, but the fishing part of it is targeted at our special needs population," said Levert Jr.

He explained that the event is meant to give people with special needs 'first-hand experience' in a professional fishing boat.

Levert Jr.'s band Moonlight Ride will also be taking the stage.

Key sponsors of the event are: Ray-Co Team Sports, BMO Nesbitt Burns/The Gabri Lalonde Wealth Advisory Group, Bray's Quarry, VW Cornwall, GreenView Manor. Many local businesses have also donated items for the auction and prize draws.

For more information or to become a sponsor, call (613) 932-4784, check or click the event's Facebook page here.

What a wonderful idea from the HEART & SOUL of the Organizers!!! I am a parent of a child with special needs and although it has its many rewards, it certainly has its many battles and adversities to hurdle. I had tears reading your add and they continue in writing this comment, because this event can only mean the beginning of new and beautiful things to come! So from my family's HEART & SOUL, we send loads of thanks to the organizers! See you at the Derby! MARTEL-MILES FAMILY :))
