CORNWALL, Ontario - The local animal shelter has teamed up with Creation Workshop for a fundraiser with a stroke of colour.

The SDG branch of the OSPCA and Creation Workshop have created an artsy fundraiser minus the pretentiousness.

Express your passion for animals in an artistic form at Schnitzels European Flavours (158 Pitt Street) on Thursday, July 17, from 7-9 p.m.

"It's an artsy fundraiser, which is something we have not tried before," said Christina Russell, OSPCA fundraising committee member. "We are hoping to engage with a new group of people while raising some additional funds for the shelter as well."

Ginny Pereira, Creation Workshop owner, approached the committee about the idea.

Russell said the animal shelter and the new Cornwall business were in discussions for months and decided to make it a reality.

"Ginny was able to get mugs that are in line with the shelter's values and we are very excited to be partnering with her for this new event," she added.

The mugs will be taken back to Creation Workshop and fired. Then, arrangements will be made to get everyone their unique artwork.

"This fundraiser is limited to 30 people to keep it intimate and allow our guests a relaxed craft night with the comfort of Schnitzels' tasty treats," said Russell.

Tickets are on sale for $30 at the OSPCA's SDG branch located at 550 Boundary Road (during business hours).
