South Glengarry Fire Hall

CORNWAL, Ontario - South Glengarry's fire department has been certified once again for being able to provide continuous supplies of water at the scene of remote fires.

The township said this week the service has had its so-called "tanker shuttle accreditation" renewed for both commercial and residential categories.

In short, the designation means that the service has shown it can provide a constant supply of water, despite not having access to a municipal supply on remote areas.

“We are proud to provide this level of service to our community,” said Mayor Ian McLeod. “This accreditation demonstrates the ability of our Fire Services to protect citizens in the event of a fire.”

Additionally, the accreditation provides potential financial benefits to residents and businesses in the township. Homes and businesses in the area may be eligible for a reduction in insurance premiums as a result of the accreditation.

Residents should contact their insurance agency directly to ask if they qualify for a rate reduction.
