CORNWALL, Ontario – A man from South Stormont faces a careless driving charge after a collision on Sept. 8 left a pedestrian fighting for his life.

SD&G OPP charged Donald MacAllister, 80, on Sept. 18.

A Dodge pickup truck crashed into a heavy equipment flatbed trailer on County Road 2 near Milles Roches Road at approximately 10:30 a.m. The trailer was stationary on the north shoulder of the roadway.

A witness at the scene said it was his belief that South Stormont resident Allan Robinson, 55, was working to secure an excavator to the massive trailer when the collision took place.

Robinson was taken to the hospital with a massive list of life-threatening injuries.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall Oct. 14.
