CORNWALL, Ontario – Cornwall police have arrested a pair of alleged fraudsters in connection to a local business being scammed on five separate occasions in March and April 2013.

Police say the two men are facing a multitude of fraud charges for purchasing electronic equipment from a city store with stolen credit cards.

Francois Louis, 29, of Montreal and Mohamed Barkia, 28, of Lasalle, turned themselves into Cornwall police on Wednesday.

The pair attempted to use the fraudulent cards to make off with more free stuff on two other occasions, but was denied, according to police.

The actual credit card owners were unaware of any of the transactions.

Both Quebec residents are facing eight counts of use of credit card data, five counts of fraud over $5,000, two counts of attempting to commit an indictable offence, and one count of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

They were held for a bail hearing.
