Terrible case of abuse uncovered by Cornwall police

CORNWALL, Ontario – Cornwall police have arrested man who now faces more than two dozen charges in a haunting case of domestic abuse.

The man faces a slew of charges after police said he assaulted six of his children, ranging in ages from a newborn up to 16, by way of slapping, punching kicking and pushing.

During the attacks, which included beatings with household objects, police said the man threatened to harm them further if they spoke out about the abuse. One of the attacks included a wrist injury to a child that required medical attention.

If that wasn’t enough, the man threatened to burn down his house with one of the children inside, choked a child and even killed the family cat with a blunt object and tried to choke the family dog to death with a leash.

The man, 37, was not named by police.

His laundry list of charges includes 10 counts of assault with a weapon, five counts of assault, threats to life, threats to property, assault causing bodily harm, four counts of intimidation, killing and animal and cruelty to an animal.

The attacks occurred between 2004 and last year.

The man was held for a bail hearing.
