CORNWALL, Ontario – SD&G OPP have arrested two men and a 15-year-old boy in connection with Monday’s Pet Valu robbery in Winchester.

According to police, the three young males entered the store around 6 p.m. on February 23, one brandishing a metal bar, and assaulted a female employee after demanding money.

She sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Jacob Wattie, 19, of Ottawa, Alexandre Faubert-Nault, 20, of Gatineau, and the teen, who is from Russell Township, have been charged with robbery with a weapon.

All three were held in custody pending a bail hearing today (Wednesday) in Cornwall.

Pet Valu acting manager Joanne DeCook told Seaway News the employee who was assaulted is “a little shaken up, but doing OK.”

“I wasn’t there, I had just left,” said DeCook. “We have one employee who has been here for 16 years and has never been robbed.”

After the incident, the suspects fled on foot across County Road 3 into a Tim Hortons’ parking area with an undisclosed amount of cash.

All three men wore winter jackets and jeans, while two of them wore balaclavas (one red, the other black).

“Right now we’re doubling staff at night, so nobody has to work alone at night, like she was. We’re trying to be more aware,” said DeCook.
