Disturbance call leads to arrest

CORNWALL, Ontario – A 34-year-old South Glengarry woman is facing an array of charges stemming from an incident at Denny’s in Lancaster.

Katherine Cumming was arrested by Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry OPP on Thursday (March 26).

According to a police report, officers responded to a disturbance call at 6:34 p.m. at a business property on Old Highway 2.

SD&G OPP Const. Joel Doiron told Seaway News “the people she was associated with (at the restaurant) were having problems and contacted the police to look after her, out of concern.”

During the arrest, she allegedly became aggressive and assaulted officers.

The suspect has been charged with assault a peace officer, two counts of assault with intent to resisting arrest, mischief under $5,000 (for breaking a cop’s glasses during the scuffle), and causing a disturbance.

She was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Alexandria on May 13.
