One arrested in South Glengarry drug bust

CORNWALL, Ontario – Multiple provincial police units raided a South Glengarry home, arresting a 22-year-old man accused of drug trafficking.

Project Paradigm – a drug enforcement team compromised of the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, the Drug Enforcement Unit and the Emergency Response Team executed the search warrant on Thursday.

Officers allegedly seized marijuana, MDMA, cocaine, cannabis resin, and assorted production equipment used to make cannabis resin.

Police also found a collapsible baton and mace.

Matthew Beehler was arrested at the scene.

He faces three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon, production of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance.

The suspect was released and scheduled to appear in a Cornwall courthouse on June 11.

In April 2014, Beehler was charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm after a controversial incident that took place at a Cornwall River Kings game.

The man and another hockey fan were accused of throwing items at an opposing hockey team member striking him on the head causing the player to suffer injuries requiring medical attention.
