CORNWALL, Ontario -Weekend traffic misery has come to an end with the reopening of the bridge to the United States from Cornwall Island and Cornwall.

The Seaway International Bridge Corporation (SIBC) re-opened the South Channel Bridge to traffic ahead of schedule at around 11 a.m. on Saturday (May 9).

On Friday, the bridge was temporarily closed as engineers worked to repair a shift in alignment to the south tower’s east expansion joint.

In a media statement, officials said the maintenance crew’s efforts have ensured the safety and security of all patrons on the Three Nations Bridge Crossing as well as their unblemished safety record.

SIBC wishes to thank the public for their patience.
