Cornwall woman charged after long-term care resident assaulted

CORNWALL, Ontario – A Cornwall woman was charged by police last month for allegedly assaulting a resident at a Long Sault long-term care home.

OPP charged the woman with assault on April 22 following a complaint from the Woodland Villa. The woman worked at the home.

Media reports have identified the woman as Lana Gautreau, 54, of Cornwall.

The Standard-Freeholder reported the woman has been fired.

She was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on June 2.

None of the accusations made by police have been proven in court.
