CORNWALL, Ontario – Hugh Primeau hasn’t set foot in Char-Lan District High School as a student in 50 years.

And things have changed.

“It was about half the size it is now,” he said with a chuckle. “It used to be shaped like an ‘L’.”

Former students of the 1965 graduating class will meet Aug. 29 at the Williamstown high school to reunite following five decades of family, work and life in general.

Primeau is helping to organize the event along with Denise Turner, a Toronto-area woman who went to school at Char-Lan as well.

Primeau used to live in Tyotown, which was north of Glen Walter on Purcell Road. He said Highway 401 cut across the back fence of their property.

Primeau suggested the lion’s share of the 150 1965 graduates are expected to meet in Williamstown for the reunion.

A reunion welcome party wil take place on Aug. 29 from 1 to 5 p.m. followed by a dinner and dance at 6:30 p.m. and will feature music of the 60’s. Tickets for the welcome party, dinner and dance will be $30.   Tickets for the welcome party and dance only can be purchased in advance or at the door for $10.

All tickets can be obtained from Turner until Aug. 1 at 100 Observatory Lane unit 1508 Richmond Hill, Ont.  L4C 1T4 .

Please make cheques payable to Char-Lan Reunion. Also include your name address (email if you wish) and number of tickets you will require.
