Zombies on the loose to help support local United Way

CORNWALL, Ontario – Have you ever imagined what life would be like in a zombie apocalypse?

You can get a taste for disaster at the third annual Zombie Run in support of the United Way of SD and G that takes place Sept. 19 at McMaze north of Cornwall.

Sherry Davis, the program and event co-ordinator for the local United Way, said the hope is to attract more competitors this year to an already-popular event.

More zombies too.

“We have a call out for zombies to come out and be part of the team,” said Davis.

Several dozen runners took part in the event last year, raising more than $2,000 in the process.

The run serves as one of the first events to take place after the United Way names its fundraising goal for the year and begins its campaign.

The 5 km run/obstacle course will be the focus of the event. To register for the run click here. A Facebook page with complete event information can be found here.

It costs $25 to register before Aug. 14, and $30 after.
