Injured South Glengarry firefighter released from Ottawa hospital

CORNWALL, Ontario – A South Glengarry firefighter who was injured while responding to a call earlier this month travelled home from the hospital Monday.

Township officials confirmed the news in a media release.

Randy Robertson was severely injured Feb. 6 when the tanker he was driving on Highway 401 rolled over several times on a snow-swept section of the road.

He still faces a long recovery while at home.

The South Glengarry Station 4 Firefighter Association will be holding a fundraiser in support of Randy on February 21st at the Lancaster Legion from 4  to 7 pm. The fundraiser will include a spaghetti supper and silent auction. Monetary donations can also be made to the Lancaster Firefighter Association.

All monetary donations and proceeds raised at the fundraiser will go directly to Robertson as he continues his recovery.
