Crafting a Cure opens its doors to a popular new addition

CORNWALL, Ontario – The fourth edition of a popular beer-themed fundraiser is getting a new taste this fall – cider.

Crafting a Cure, a juvenile diabetes fundraiser, will include products from Pickton’s County Cider to complement the small army of craft breweries that provide beer at the event.

Jeff Lalonde, one of the organizers of Crafting a Cure, said the decision to include another favourite alcoholic beverage was a no-brainer.

“Ciders are gluten-free and celiac disease is closely related to diabetes,” he said. “It kind of goes with the whole motif.”

Crafting a Cure has raised $45,000 in its previous three years, including $20,000 in 2015.

Lalonde said new breweries are also on tap, including Sawdust City and Four Degrees Brewing, not to mention old favourites like Cornwall’s Rurban Brewing.

Crafting a Cure takes place Nov. 4 at the Agora Centre in Cornwall.

The money raised by the event is donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Ticket sale information is expected to be released in the coming weeks.
