LANCASTER, Ontario – The South Lancaster Fish and Game Club is excited to once again be hosting its Annual Kids Fishing Derby at the South Lancaster Wharf. Each summer, the club welcomes children from Glengarry County and the surrounding area to participate in a fun-filled day.

“The Annual Kids Fishing Derby has become our Club’s signature event and has allowed us to give back to the surrounding area in various ways.” exclaimed President Shawna Rousseau.

Participants are divided into three different age groups and fish for an hour before they are awarded based on their catch for the day. Each child is awarded a medal for participating as well as a goodie bag filled with material provided by business around the community. There are also cash prizes for first, second and third place fish in each age group. A complimentary BBQ is offered to both the children and their parents.

The community is welcomed to join the club as many perks are offered as a result. Besides receiving $5 million liability for bodily injury or property damage while engaged in any hunting, fishing or conservation work, you also get discounts at local stores, a subscription to Ontario Out of Doors magazine and able to participate in all club functions. “Meeting like-minded people is reason alone to become a member! We welcome everyone, you do not need to reside in Glengarry County,” says Rousseau.
