CORNWALL, Ontario – The Shorty Jenkin’s Classic wrapped up on Sunday night. The annual curling tournament saw its second year in Cornwall.

The tournament began with the qualifiers on Thursday and the semi-finals and finals were covered live by CogecoTV and broadcast across the country.

In the men’s semi-finals Team Edin, lead by Skip Niklas Edin of Karlstad, Sweden faced off against the winner of this year’s Tour Challenge, Canada’s Kevin Koe of Calgary.

The other semi-final saw Team Epping lead by Skip John Epping of Toronto face Team Gushue. Team Gushue had to take to the ice without their Skip Brad Gushue who sustained an injury two weeks ago. Brad Gushue lead his team to victory in last year’s Shorty Jenkins Classic. Mark Nichols of Newfoundland stepped up to serve as Skip in Brad’s absence.

The result of the semi-finals saw Team Gushue face Team Koe for the championship at the Classic on Sunday. Ultimately Team Koe was victorious. Team Koe won by 9-3.

In the Women’s Division, Team Homan leak by Skip Rachel Homan of Ottawa faced Marie-France Larouche and her team from Levis, Quebec in the semi-finals.

Skip Chrissy Cadorin of Toronto, Ontario faced Team Flaxey lead by Skip Allison Flaxey of Caledon, Ontario in the other semi-final.

The results of those matches meant that the final was Team Homan versus Team Flaxey with Team Homan ultimately taking the final victory. Team Homan won the match 7-1.
