Bentley Boardwalk falls through

LONG SAULT, Ontario – The Bentley Boardwalk condo development at the site of the Long Sault Marina will not be happening.

Developer JC Godard has said that he will cut his loses from the site.

His decision to end the project, according to him, is because of the lack of sales for the proposed condos.

“There wasn’t a market for this project,” Godard said.

Bentley’s Boadwalk would have included 72 condos, a boat club and a bar-and-grill.

“I’m sorry to see JC pull out of the development,” said South Stormont Township Mayor Jim Bancroft. “I’m still of the opinion that the type of housing offered by these condominiums still has a place in our community.”

Improvement of the Long Sault Marina property was identified in the Township Community Improvement Plan and the Waterfront Development Plan.

Mayor Bancroft said that he was not aware of any other developer currently interested in the site.
