Police Briefs: April 13, 2014

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 19-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on April 10th, 2014 on the strength of a probation office warrant for failing to complete her community hours and failing to make a restitution payment. On April 10th, 2014 the woman was located at her residence, taken into custody and later transported to police headquarters where she was released to appear in court at a later date. Her name was not released as the matter stems from an incident when the woman was a youth and is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Amanda Laplante, 30 of Cornwall was arrested on April 10th, 2014 and charged with failing to appear for prints. It is alleged that on March 26th, 2014 the woman failed to attend police headquarters as scheduled for prints and as a result an investigation ensued. On April 10th, 2014 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on April 17th, 2014.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 23-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 10th, 2014 and charged with assault and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on April 10th, 2014 during an argument with his 32-year-old ex-girlfriend the man struck the woman under the eye. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. Police later located the man who had fled the scene at a Walton Street address and took the man into custody. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Michael Isaac, 41 of Khanawake, Quebec was arrested on April 8th, 2014 and charge with breaching a recognizance for failing to notify a change of address as well as two probation orders for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on April 8th, 2014 a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service attended the Cornwall Courthouse as the man who was there on an unrelated matter was found to be in breach of his conditions for not changing his address as required. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later turned over to court staff to be held for a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – Danielle Vivarais, 22 of Cornwall was arrested on April 9th, 2014 and charged with breaching her recognizance for failing to attend scheduled meetings. It is alleged that the woman failed to attend for two scheduled meetings as required by her court order. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On April 9th, 2014 the woman was located at her residence, taken into custody and charged accordingly. She was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

DRUG WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Martine Beriquez, 44, Andre Peloquin, 53 and Andre Peloquin Jr., 20 all of Cornwall were arrested on April 4th, 2014 and charged with possession of cocaine and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. It is alleged that on April 4th, 2014 members of the Cornwall Street Crime Unit executed a warrant at a Leonia Street address and located just over 14 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $1176.00. As a result of the warrant three persons were arrested and charged accordingly. They were all later released to appear in court on May 6th, 2014.

CRIMINAL HARASSMENT, BREACH

Cornwall ON – A 40-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on April 5th, 2014 and charged with criminal harassment and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that throughout the evening of April 4th, 2014 the woman sent several text messages to her 33-year-old ex-partner despite having been warned not to. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On April 5th, 2014 during their investigation police located the woman at her residence, took her into custody and charged her accordingly. She was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

IMPAIRED, ASSAULT PEACE OFFICER, THREATS, BREACH and FAIL TO PRIVIDE

Cornwall ON – Joeanna Gagne of Hogansburg NY was arrested on April 6th, 2014 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of assault peace officer, two

counts of threats to life and breach of an undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of April 6th, 2014 the woman was found to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol at the port of entry. She was taken into custody at which time she kicked two CBSA officers and threatened to return with a gun and kill them. Police were contacted and assumed custody of the woman who now refused to provide a sample of her breath. She was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

OVER 80

Cornwall On – Nolan Jacobs, 31of Cornwall 31 of Hogansburg NY was arrested on April 5th, 2014 and charged with over 80. It is alleged that on April 5th, 2014 the man was found to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol at the port of entry. He was taken into custody and police were contacted. A member of the Cornwall Community Police Service assumed custody of the man and charged him accordingly. He was later released to appear in court on April 17th, 2014.

Cornwall, ON – Alanna Wall, 37 of Ingleside was arrested on April 6th, 2014 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and fail to remain at the scene of an accident. It is alleged that on April 6th, 2014 the woman was found to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol in the area of Second Street and Glengarry Boulevard. The woman was taken into custody during a traffic stop when it was learned that she had previously struck a vehicle while in the area of Second Street West and left the scene. She was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on April 17th, 2014.

ASSAULT, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, On – A 32-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 6th, 2014 and charged with assault and mischief. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of April 6th, 2014 during an argument with his 30-year-old common law wife he flipped the chair she was sitting in and punched a hole in the wall. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT, SEXUAL ASSAULT and FORCIBLE CONFINEMENT

Cornwall, ON – A 29-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 6th, 2014 and charged with assault, sexual assault and forcible confinement. It is alleged that on April 6th, 2014 during an argument with his 26-year-old girlfriend the man pushed her against the wall and blocked her path so that she could not leave the residence. During the argument the man also inappropriately touched the woman. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

BREACH

Cornwall, On – Jeffrey Goulet, 47 of Cornwall was arrested on April 3rd, 2014 and charged with failing to appear for prints. It is alleged that on March 31st, 2014 the man failed to attend police headquarters for a scheduled appointment to have his finger prints taken. As a result an investigation ensued. On April 3rd, 2014 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on April 22nd, 2014.

THEFT UNDER $5000, MISCHIEF, FRAUD, ATTEMPT FRAUD

Cornwall, ON – Peter Laxton, 36 of Cornwall was arrested on April 3rd, 2014 and charged with five counts of mischief under $5000, two counts of theft under $5000, fraud under $5000, attempt fraud and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is allege that sometime during the evening hours of April 1st. 2014 and early morning hours of April 2nd, 2014 the man gained entry into five separate vehicles that were parked at a Sydney Street parking lot by way of breaking the vehicles’ windows. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation it was learned that the man also used a credit card that was stolen from one of the vehicles and attempted to use it on a second occasion. On April 3rd, 2014 the man was spotted by police walking in the area of Second Street and Sydney Street. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

THREATS, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Shane Sarault, 21 of Cornwall was arrested on April 3rd, 2014 for having breached his conditional sentence order and also charged with threats. It is alleged that on April 3rd, 2014 during a meeting with probation he threatened to harm a probation officer’s children. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT, PUBLIC INTOXICATION

Cornwall, ON – Marc Hebert, 38 of Cornwall was arrested on April 3rd, 2014 on the strength of a warrant and for being intoxicated in a public place. It is alleged that the man failed to attend court on January 21st, 2010 for an impaired driving charge and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On April 3rd, 2014 the intoxicated man was spotted by police walking through the Cornwall Square parking lot. He was taken into custody for being intoxicated in a public place and on the strength of a warrant. He was then transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing,

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Adam Albers, 26 of Cornwall was arrested on April 3rd, 2014 and charged with breaching an undertaking for having consumed alcohol and failing to keep the peace. He was also charged with breaching an undertaking for failing to abide by house rules and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on April 3rd, 2014 police were called to a Marlborough Street address in relation to a disturbance call. Once on scene they located the intoxicated man in his room. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and transported to police headquarters where he was held for a bail hearing.

THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 28-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on April 2nd, 2014 and charged with threats to life. It is alleged that during the month of March, 2014 the woman threatened to shoot her ex-boyfriend and his girlfriend. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation police located the woman at her residence, took her into custody and charged her accordingly. She was later released to appear in court on May 6th, 2014. Her name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

FRAUD

Cornwall, ON – Samantha McCormick, 18 of Maxville was arrested on April 2nd, 2014 and charged with two counts of fraud under $5000 and unauthorized use of a credit card. It is alleged that during the month of January, 2014 the woman deposited empty envelopes into an ATM and withdrew money from the account without the permission of the account holder. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On April 2nd, 2014 the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on May 15th, 2014.
