Police Briefs: May 4, 2014

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on April 25th, 2014 on the strength of two warrants for having uttered threats and breaching her recognizance by being out without her surety. It is alleged that on April 25th, 2014 the youth was located by police at a Third Street East address and taken into custody. She was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Cornwall, ON – James Labelle, 26 was arrested on April 25th, 2014 on the strength of a warrant for a theft under incident. It is alleged that on April 25th, 2014 the man was located at a Brookdale Avenue address and taken into custody on the strength of the warrant. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 23-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on April 25th, 2014 and charged with breaching her recognizance by associating with someone that she is not supposed to. It is alleged that on April 25th, 2014 while on an unrelated call on Brookdale Avenue police found the woman to be in the company of someone that she has conditions not to associate with. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and transported to police headquarters where she was held for a bail hearing as she was also wanted on a warrant for failing to attend court on April 24th, 2014. Her name was not released as the recognizance stems from a domestic incident and might identify the victim.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 25th, 2014 and charged with assault. It is alleged that on April 25th, 2014 the man was involved in a verbal argument with his 27-year-old ex-girlfriend when he pushed her on two occasions. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody and charged accordingly. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 20-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on April 25th, 2014 and charged with threats. It is alleged that on April 25th, 2014 the woman threatened to stab her 21-year-old ex-common law. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

IMPAIRED

Cornwall, ON – Carey Smith, 44 of Cornwall was arrested on April 26th, 2014 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of April 26th, 2014 the man was operating a motor vehicle on Pitt Street north of Thirteenth Street while under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop and charged accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters and later released to appear in court on May 6th, 2014.

Cornwall, ON – Lori Roberts was arrested on April 28th, 2014 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over 80. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of April 28th, 2014 the woman was found to be operating a motor vehicle in the area of Brookdale Avenue and Thirteenth Street while under the influence of alcohol. She was taken into custody during a traffic stop and charged accordingly. She was later released to appear in court on May 6th, 2014.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Patrick Tessier, 34 of Cornwall was arrested on April 26th, 2014 on the strength of a warrant as he failed to attend court as required for an attempt break and enter charge and a warrant was issued for his arrest. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of April 26th, 2014 the man was spotted by police in the area of First Street and Pitt Street. He was subsequently taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and further charged with breaching his recognizance for being out without his surety and failing to notify a change of address. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – A 20-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 26th, 2014 and charged with assault, mischief and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on April 26th, 2014 during an argument with his 15-year-old girlfriend the man punched her in the shoulder and threw her phone against the wall causing it to break. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Bernard Lacombe, 45 of Barrie, ON was arrested on April 26th, 2014 and charged with breaching two recognizances for failing to abide by his curfew conditions. It is alleged that on April 26th, 2014 during a traffic stop the man was found to be out past his curfew. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 60-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 27th, 2014 and charged with assault. It is alleged that during an argument with his 17-year-old stepdaughter he grabbed her by the neck. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was later released to appear in court on June 17th, 2014. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Tyler Durocher-Quinn, 22 of Cornwall was arrested on April 23rd, 2014 and charged with breaching his recognizance for failing to notify change of address. It is alleged that on August 6th, 2013 police attended the man’s residence to confirm that he was abiding by his conditions and found that he had moved without notifying the Cornwall Community Police Service. On April 23rd, 2014 police located the man at a Montreal Road address and took him into custody. He was charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on May 29th, 2014.

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Brian Colborne, 21 of Cornwall was arrested on April 23rd, 2014 and charged with theft under $5000, breach of a recognizance for not living at a specified address and failing to keep the peace. He was also charged with breaching a probation order for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on April 12th, 2014 the man attended a Belmont Street address and removed medication that did not belong to him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On April 23rd, 2014 the man approached a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service in order to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and later released to appear in court on May 29th, 2014.

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH, POSSESSION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES AND A PROHIBITED WEAPON

Cornwall, ON – Taylor Bergeron, 23 of Cornwall was arrested on April 23rd, 2014 and charged with theft under $5000, possession of controlled substances, possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of a recognizance for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on April 23rd, 2014 the man entered a Brookdale Avenue store and removed some razors and steaks making no attempts to pay for the items. The man was stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. The man was taken into custody by police and while in custody the man was found to be in the possession of brass knuckles, approximately 13 grams of Marihuana and unknown pills. He was charged accordingly and held foe a bail hearing.
