John Scorgie

From time to time I meet people who tell me about their concept of faith in God. They share with me that faith is a “huge leap” or a “giant jump.” There is definitely a radical side to faith, no doubt, but when I read the Holy Bible I see faith as a logical step in light of the truth revealed. Faith makes good sense to me when the ground or basis of my faith is solid and when the focus or object of my faith is true. I don’t see faith as a blind leap into mid air, but rather as a knowledgeable step of trust in God for who He really is. I don’t see faith as an emotional jump into mid air, but rather as an intelligent step of trust in God for what He has revealed. I don’t see faith as an arrogant jump into mid air but rather as a humble step of trust in God as the ultimate faithful One. I don’t see faith as an irrational jump into mid air but as a rational step of trust in God who is totally dependable. I don’t see faith as a silly jump into mid air but as a wise step of trust in God, the source of all wisdom. So how do you personally perceive faith? Give this matter some thought. I hope that your faith will be strong and worthy of the Lord for all that He has revealed of Himself in the Holy Scriptures.
