Lamoureux Park was the setting for the second annual Cyclocross race, sponsored by the Ottawa Bicycle Club, this past Sunday. With its roots in France and Belgium, Cyclocross is a cross between mountain biking and street racing, on a mix of pavement, gravel and grass courses, with barriers added to the challenge. “It’s a great park,” said event organizer, Bob Woods. “We have a really good relationship with the city.” Approximately 200 cyclists from across eastern Ontario participated in one of three, 4 kilometer races in the event in men’s women’s a children’s divisions. 1 height:500px;width:400px Capping off Child Abuse Prevention month, the Children’s Aid Society hosted an event featuring three performances by Grand scale illusionist, Claude Haggerty, at Aultsville Theatre, on Saturday, Oct. 27. The event also raised food donations for the Agapè Centre.

2 height:500px;width:397px The Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off committee held a fundraising Halloween party on Friday, Oct. 26, at Spot Light Hall and Conference. Local band, Busker’s Dream, provided the entertainment. 3 width:500px;height:375px Another of PC Café event was held at on Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church. This is a community service to let everyone know that we are community friendly, said Danielle Drabik, director of PC Café, which offers services such as haircuts, manicures, foot massage, play room, and snack for everyone. “We just want people to come and relax and chill out.” The next PC Café will be held in March.
