There will be plenty of hockey games to watch this coming weekend in the city of Cornwall. The Cornwall Girls Hockey Association (CGHA) will be hosting its 29th annual competitive girl’s hockey tournament.
“The tournament will welcome 53 teams, from Ontario, Quebec and the USA, with the furthest team traveling from Northern Ontario, seven hours away,” said CGHA pice president Yvon Besner. “It is one of our largest to date.”
There will be lots of puck action with levels ranging from atom to intermediate. Most games will be played at the Benson Centre, as well as some games also scheduled to be played at the Ed Lumley arena (civic complex).
The first puck will drop at 9 a.m. on Friday morning continuing through to the first of 10 championship games to be played on Sunday beginning at 1:30 p.m.
“We are lucky the Benson Centre has given us a venue to hold such an event,” said Besner.
Everyone is welcome to come out and support your Cornwall Typhoons hockey, there will be no shortage of action and entertainment.
Admission to the tournament is free, however; CGHA will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items which can be dropped off at the registration desk located in the Benson Centre on the lower level throughout the tournament.
