They dominated at the Colisée Cardin Arena on Friday, Jan. 10 against the Sorel-Tracy Eperviers winning 6-3 in front of 1,234 fans.
The match opened with a goal by Sorel’s Eric Bertrand in the first two minutes. Cornwall’s Sasha Pokulok tied it up shortly after, but Sorel dumped two more in at the halfway mark. Determined to win their first game in a month, the Kings squeezed one in with 16 seconds on the clock.
The first four scores were made during a power play.
From there the Kings held court. Two unanswered goals in the second and third frames buried Sorel giving Cornwall a much-needed victory.
Back on home ice, the Kings doubled their opponents, the Saint-Georges Cool FM 103.5, ending in a 4-2 win on Jan. 12 with 1,335 in attendance.
Cornwall cleaned house with two markers at opposite ends of the first frame. Next up was the most eventful period resulting in two goals for each team. Saint-Georges was unable to bounce back in the final round allowing Cornwall to coast their way to a second straight win.
All four goals came from different players on the Kings roster.
The Cornwall River Kings will play Riviere-du-Loup 3L on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the civic complex at 7:30 p.m.
