CORNWALL, Ontario - It took 10 rounds and a decision by the judges, but Cornwall's Tony Luis couldn't find an edge against Ivan Redkach.

Friday night Luis lost a unanimous World Boxing Association decision, 99-90, 97-92, 97-92 to the favoured fighter out of Los Angeles.

Luis was knocked down in the first round of the bout, but the blow appeared to do little serious damage. Both fighters were back and forth for much of the round.

The second round featured much of the same between the two fighters, with Luis holding his own.

At round six Luis was fighting off a barrage from Redkach, with some at the fight suggesting he was in trouble but recovering. He'd also been cut by what appeared to be a headbutt from his opponent.

Luis' record falls to 17-2 (seven knockouts) and was considered the World Boxing Association's 12th-ranked contender before the fight.

He was in tough against Redkach, a Ukrainian who now fights out of Los Angeles. He's ranked number 11 by the WBA and hasn't lost yet in 16 fights while knocking out 13 of his opponents.

Six of his knockouts came in the first round.
