CORNWALL, Ontario - After scoring a quick power play goal early in the first, it appeared the Cornwall River Kings were up to the task of beating the Trois-Rivieres Vikings for the first time this season.

But a flurry of goals in the second period turned the Vikings 1- 0 deficit into a 4-1 lead over the River Kings in front of 754 fans at the Colisée de Trois-Rivières on Friday, Feb. 7.

The final frame came alive when River King Yves Sarault netted a marker with 4:20 remaining on the clock. The goal, assisted by Nicolas Corbell and Pierre-Luc Faubert, made more of a scratch than a dent.

With just seven seconds left in the period, Viking Yann Joseph buried the River Kings with a powerplay goal, assisted by Stephanie Boieau and Thomas Beauregard.

The Vikings have now won all four games against the River Kings this season.

Stars of the game were Viking Marco Cousineau, Viking Nicolas Dumoulin, and River King Dominic Chiasson.

The River Kings return to home ice for a grudge match against the Laval Braves at the civic complex on Saturday, Feb. 8. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
