CORNWALL, Ontario – A fundraiser to help a local sports hero in his battle with ALS takes place this weekend at the Benson Centre – and there is still room to help.

Rod McLeod, one of the organizers of Brian's Day, said he been floored by the response from the community.

"I'm flabbergasted by the number of people who want to play in the alumni game," he said, adding he has had to close the event to more people because of the response.

But Brian's Day, which is benefitting Brian Tardiff, a local sports volunteer, still needs volunteer coaches and others to help throughout the day.

To help out, or get more information, contact the organizers of Brian's Day found here. Some of the highlights include a visit from two-time Olympic gold medalist and Cornwall native Lori Dupuis, a silent auction, live music and hockey, hockey, hockey.

All the proceeds from the event will go towards Tardiff and his family to help in his personal journey with ALS.

Can you please tell me what you need volunteers for?? My husband and I may be available depending on what you need and the time. We already have plans with our family for the free skate time period, but we may be able to help out depending on what you need. Thanks , Ellen
