CORNWALL, Ontario - For the fourth-consecutive year, the St. Lawrence College-Cornwall Sharks have qualified for the Ontario College Committee on Campus Recreation (OCCCR) Challenge Cup.
The St. Lawrence College-Cornwall Sharks.
Cornwall had a record of 11-7 through the season.
The team won last month's Durham College Hockey Invitational consolation final defeating the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) by a score of 3-1.
The win helped secure their spot as the 12th and final team in the Challenge Cup. The two-day tournament will take place March 20-21 and is hosted by Wilfrid Laurier University's Brantford campus.
"We have a tough road ahead of us at the Challenge Cup, but based on how the guys rallied together at the Durham Invitational, I have full confidence in the team that we are going to step up next week," said Sharks co-head coach Sean Boulerice in a media release by St. Lawrence College.
Last season, the Sharks made it to the semi-final of the tournament before losing to Seneca College by a score of 3-1.
Cornwall will be looking to come home from the tournament as champions, as they did in the 2010-2011 Challenge Cup.
Their first game of the tournament will take place March 20 at 4:30 p.m. when the Sharks take on George Brown College, who were slotted sixth in the power rankings as of Jan 31.
Cornwall will play two more games following that to determine if they move on to the elimination round.
