CORNWALL, Ontario – The Char-Lan Skating Club has wrapped up another season following their annual showcase which took place March 26 at the Char-Lan Recreation Centre.

The club, based in Williamstown, is part of the Skate Canada program and caters to people of all ages in their CanSkate classes. The club also teaches figure skating through their STARSkate program. There are also pre-CanSkate lessons for those who have not skated before.
The CanSkaters and STARSkaters along with their guests attended the showcase where the skaters showcased the skills they had learned through the season. The theme for the showcase was the 2014 Winter Olympics.
"Watching a skater progress from the 'duck walk' to a graceful figure skater or agile hockey player is the most rewarding part of being a coach," said CanSkate coordinator Lisa Migneault in a press release.
Awards were handed out to a few of the skaters involved with the program. These awards included Most Improved Skaters, CanSkater of the Year, and STARSkater of the Year. A list of the winners is below.
The skating club’s STARSkaters also competed at two local skating competitions, one in Massena, New York and another in Hawkesbury, ON. Through both events the skaters were able to win seven gold medals.
Registrations for the program take place in early September while the season runs from October to March. For more information on the club, go to www.southglengarry.com/en/residents/childrensfigureskating.asp.
